Oh floor sample. The possibilities you behold. Now if only the total weirdness of my 100 year old house will allow me to have you installed.
Our house is really old. Is that new information to any of you? The floors in about half of our house are original. 1930 original. Yeah it's not pretty. The rest were replaced in the 80s. They are a honey color, which I think we can all agree honey colored woods are one of the worst things to happen to interior design. The time has come to replace them but since this is not our forever house we want something affordable, durable, that doesn't involve a contractor and ripping out the existing floors.
So we arrived at this sample. Engineered hardwood that can be installed as a floating floor over our existing hardwoods. The installer is coming today to see if this is even possible. I hope it is because I love a wide planked dark hardwood floor about as much as I love Starbucks.

Where the heck did "forever house" come from? It seems there are a lot of people buying houses they have no intention of keeping, why buy them in the first place?
Well I didn't just buy the house. We've been here for almost 6 years and intend to stay for at least 3 more. I think most people do what we did and buy a house but later intend on buying a bigger house.
That floor is beautiful! Exactly what I was looking for in my home. Tax return cannot come fast enough so I can have my own samples to lust over.
