I was super excited about Ella's tree this year. I found my inspiration from an holiday window at Anthropologie.
So I spent much of November making yarn ornaments in all shades of green and pink.
Saturday before Thanksgiving we put up her tree and I hung those ornaments and it looked horrible. It was horrendous. My husband watched my perfectionism take over and asked me to challenge myself to use things I already had. Mainly because he had just hauled up boxes of ornaments from the basement.
So I did. I removed the darker green ornaments and left the pink and lime green. I added hints of gold some white and burlap ribbon and E's favorite ornaments...
I really was happy with how cute it turned out.
Here are some details...
Now the problem I faced was what to do with the top. I went to Joann's craft store in search of inspiration and ended up with this.
The picks were $2.00 a piece but were 70% off so I got them for 59 cents a piece. For a little over $2 I made this tree topper.
Although it was totally not what I planned, I am happy with how cute it is and E loves it. She takes everyone who comes over back to her room to see her tree. She even will walk back to her room and just look at it. So cute.
One problem I have run into is that I don't have anything to put under the tree. Do any of you do anything special under the tree or have any ideas? I thought about wrapping empty boxes but that seems wasteful. Any ideas?

Very cute and I love the topper!
Looks so cute! What about a little nativity set for beneath the tree?
Love it! It looks similar to my Ella's tree, except hers only has pink ornaments. For under the tree, I bought these three tin glitter faux presents. It added a nice whimsy touch. I got them a couple years ago Burlington Coat Factory of all places.
perfect!
